Sam Timmermans

Head of Sport Intelligence @ UK Sport

Sam has 10 years’ experience in leadership roles within the area of Sport Intelligence and Data Science. In 2014 he moved over to the UK to set up the Sport Intelligence Team within UK Sport, responsible for the evidence base to support strategic investment in Olympic and Paralympic Sport. In the run up to he Rio Games he led the project that was aimed at TeamGB being the most informed team at the Games. Since 2016 he further expanded the team to also lead the delivery of a system wide Strategy to accelerate the adoption of data and intelligence within the British High Performance Sport System. In his current role within the Performance Directorate Senior Leadership Team he is also responsible for future thinking and ‘keeping the future present’ within UK Sport. Previously Sam worked for Gracenote Sports, formerly known as Infostrada, where he set up the Analytics department from scratch and led the development of products like the Virtual Medal Table, and Podium solutions.
