As a Sports, Media, and Entertainment lawyer, Mat has a solid track record of experience and expertise advising sporting bodies, teams, athletes, sponsors, and rights holders in the traditional sports space, as well as film producers, creative talent, authors, publishers, and tech start-ups in the media and entertainment sectors.
Mat has developed significant expertise in the high-growth esports sector, having advised players, teams, investors, and event organisers on a broad range of commercial transactions and legal matters since 2016. In 2017 Mat was a co-founding Board Member of the Esports Games Association Australia Ltd (EGAA) and became Interim CEO of that esports industry body in early 2018.
Mat also teaches sports and esports law as a Senior Fellow of The University of Melbourne Law School and as a Casual Academic at the University of Technology Sydney Business School.
